Unpopular opinion if you wish, but I think school should not be mandatory. Maybe primary school if you really want to, but after that I think it should be optional. I highly value education and knowledge, but I do not think that forcing kids to learn is the right thing to do. Schools would be so much better if people went there because they actually wanted to. Look at universities, the ambiance, people there, mood and everything is just better. Why? Well, Because no on is forcing those people to get out of bed at 6 in the morning to go to a place they dislike. They go to university because they want to, they can leave at any moment. This leaves the people who actually want to learn, the people who will not ruin the experience for everyone. Okay, teaching kids how to read, write or do basic maths is important, but I do not think that learning philosophy or advanced mathematics should be mandatory. If you want to learn them, go ahed, I encourage you. But if you do not want to, I really do not see a reason for you to learn it.
